The farewell is the most photographed night of college. A blazer that fits well will look good in every one of those photos; one that does not will show it in every one.
How a blazer should fit
- Shoulders: the seam should end where your shoulder ends, with no dent or overhang.
- Sleeves: about a centimetre of shirt cuff should show.
- Length: the jacket should cover the seat of your trousers.
- Buttoned: it should close without pulling into an X across the front.
Which style?
- Single-breasted: the safest, most versatile choice.
- Double-breasted: bolder and more formal; works best on a slim frame.
- Tuxedo: satin lapels for a black-tie feel.
- Indo-western suit: a festive fusion look.
- Nehru jacket or Modi coat: sharp over a kurta for an Indian look.
Why rent?
A farewell is one night. Renting lets you wear a better blazer than you would buy for a single evening, and you return it the next day.
