Most costumes are worn once: a fancy dress round, a single play, one farewell night. That changes the maths.

When renting wins

  • One-off events: annual day characters, fancy dress, tableaux, a farewell or a reception.
  • Children's costumes: kids outgrow them by the next year anyway.
  • Complex characters: mythological and historical costumes need crowns, jewellery and props that are expensive to buy separately.
  • Festivals with many nights: renting lets you wear a different Garba look on different nights.
  • Storage: no trunk of costumes to keep clean and pressed.

When buying might be better

  • Something you will wear many times a year, such as a regular dance class uniform.
  • Pieces that need personal tailoring for repeated use.

Accessories are the hidden cost

A Krishna costume needs a mor-mukut, bansuri and jewellery; Shiva needs a trishul and damru; Rani Laxmibai needs a sword and shield. Bought separately, accessories often cost more than the outfit. Renting them with the costume solves that.

What renting costs

It depends on the costume, how many pieces it has and the accessories you add. At our studio, Garba outfits rent for roughly ₹300 to ₹1,200; for everything else, message us with what you need and we will give you an exact rate.
